Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

What a great day we had at Southeast School yesterday. The students arrived in their Cat in the Hat colors and were greeted by our very own Cat in the Hat, Mrs. Linda Robinson. Then, throughout the day the students had guest readers, special craft projects and a Drop Everything and Read! time block.  Take a look at some of our photos below.

Happy Chinese New Year

Our two Kindergarten classes helped Southeast celebrate the Chinese New Year last Friday.  The Kinders held a special parade through the hallways, visited classrooms and the main office to ring in the new year.   (January 31, 2014)

Read Across America Day

Monday is planned as Read Across America Day at Southeast School!  Please have your child wear the colors of The Cat in the Hat (red, black and white). We are requesting simple dress, no costumes. Your child will also participate in a school wide reading time at 1:05 where everyone will stop what they are doing to read together, so feel free to help your child pick an appropriate book and send in. Next, we have also invited in a guest reader into your child's classroom. Last, I have one little surprise up my sleeve when the students arrive to school. We are very pleased to celebrate READING together as a school.  Please note that in the event of a snow day on Monday, we will postpone the event to this Wednesday.

All about Jazz!

What a phenomenal performance we saw this week!  All About Jazz was filled with a high level of musicality and energy. Congratulations to the entire fourth grade who performed and spoke the lines of the play, and the entire third grade who sang and danced along with each tune. Finally, congratulations to Mrs. Carr for bringing jazz to our students lives and showcasing everyone's talents perfectly. What a great evening at Southeast!
